The sexual assault case surrounding Colin Kaepernick is reportedly not over just yet, despite the former NFL quarterback telling the media that it was closed. The commander of the Special Victims Unit at the Miami Police Department said that the investigation is “near closure, but it is NOT closed.” Investigators are reportedly waiting for scientific evidence before they hand the case over to prosecutors. One of the emergency dispatchers who was present during the Maya Angelou 911 call has been suspended for criticizing Oprah Winfrey while the call occurred. Reports say that John Ruckh was suspended after 24 years of servicing the company due to telling someone that Oprah “has fallen out of grace” while the emergency call was taken. He claims that Oprah stated during an interview: “There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.” [TMZ]

A 28-year-old man is being accused of stealing two Sandy Hook memorial signs that were meant to help honor two victims of the shooting. Andrew Truelove told police that he stole the signs because he believed that the shooting was a hoax. He stole one sign in Mystic, Connecticut and another in Mantoloking, New Jersey. The signs were dedicated to victims Chase Kowalski and Grace McDonnell. [Daily Mail]
