This week, rap duo Run the Jewels dropped a bomb.
Killer Mike and El-P, who when together make up Run the Jewels, released their sophomore album Run the Jewels 2 on Mass Appeal records. Yesterday, the duo had a private Q/A for the album. During the discussion, one of Mass Appeal’s investors, legendary rapper Nas, made an appearance.
And that’s when things went next level.
Nas used that opportunity to debut a snippet of a song from his new album. The track is called “The Season,” and it was produced by the legendary J Dilla (who died of Lupus in 2006). J Dilla heads should recognize the beat right away: it’s “Gobstopper,” from Dilla’s classic Donuts album.
This is pretty exciting stuff, considering that Nas hinted that a new album was coming soon during his verse on ScHoolboy Q’s “Studio” remix.
Check out the snippet of “The Season” above.
