It is just an hour after sunset and the rain in midtown Manhattan is just settling down. Clearly it is not your perfect New York City evening as pedestrians still cling to their umbrellas just in case the rain picks up again. While the murky evening can easily leave you in a funky mood, Amber Rose dispels this assumption when she exits the elevator onto the 4th floor of her marketing team’s office. Although it’s been a long day, Rose still wears a bright smile and extends her hand for a greeting, “Hi, I’m Amber,” she says.

The happiness that comes with her presence is contagious. Rose stands at 5’10 while her black platforms elevate her slightly. Her look for the day resembles gothic fashion: dark purple lips, a black-feathered vest and red shorts with black tights to protect her legs.  The model turned singer rests on a gray sofa located in a back room of the office. Her long-time buddy Priscilla accompanies her with a few other friends. She is very personable and friendly, “you look beautiful,” she says. We sit down for a one to one interview, Amber talks freely but not when it comes to the hoopla surrounding her recent appearance on MTV’s RapFix where she broke down into tears when talking about ex-boyfriend Kanye West. “I got it all out, I just wanted to let all that go and move on with my life,” she explained.

Rumors frequently float around the blogosphere centering on Amber; in fact, once or twice personal pictures belonging to her were recently leaked. The Philadelphia native has found ways to cope with all the fabrication. “I got over dealing with the media, rumors and the lies. The good thing about it is I have a support system now (Wiz Khalifa) that doesn’t care about anything on the internet, he’s just like girl who cares, I love you, whatever, [nothing] matters. It makes life so much easier.” Having dealt with years of media scrutiny and constant bashing from males and females, Rose still takes a firm stance for women empowerment and lives life with no past regrets. “I don’t have any regrets, when it comes to my life,” she says, “God does everything for a reason, He puts you through trails to overcome and I’m happy.”

Although Rose has stated in many interviews that she is simply a girl from Philadelphia who fell in love with a famous person and participated in a real relationship, she still deals with three big misconceptions. “People think I’m a stuck up b*tch, I’m a gold-digger and I’m undeserving of this [glamorous] life,” she exhales frustration, “I’m so not and I’m very deserving of this life.” She pauses “I think God wanted me to have this life, there were so many times when I wanted to be done with this life but more and more opportunities [rise] and get me to the point where I can be an ambassador and go around the world and help people. I’m really passionate about that.”

While others tend to focus on Amber’s personal life, she wants to focus on one thing at the moment and that’s her music.

Amber recently released her debut single, “Fame” which is a reflection of her life in the last few years. It’s no surprise that it features her beau Wiz Khalifa who is in full support of her. “I brought my music to Wiz one day and he was just like ‘wow you’re really really talented Amber, I think you should really pursue this,’ she recalls. “It was always something very personal for me, I’m really shy and reserved in a lot of ways, but when I get behind the microphone I’m a totally different person!” The song is a fun record that can easily remind a listener of Cyndi Lauper’s 1983’ classic “Girls, Just Want to Have Fun.” Amber who is inspired by Missy Elliot, Fergie and LMFAO describes what will make her stand out from other female artists, “I’ve been through a lot in my life and I have a lot to talk about but I also make it fun to dance to and party to.”

Rose lights up at the slightest sound of her boyfriend Wiz Khalifa’s name, she loves to discuss him. When they’re not working on separate coasts, she spends most of her time with him and reveals that his family is hers, “It’s like Wiz’s mother gave birth to me, I’m her daughter.” Rose is currently working on releasing her second single called “Loaded” and a fashion line with Members Only due out Fall 2012.
