Florence + The Machine has a reputation for creating epic, overblown songs. Their musical style is perfect for the movies.

Case in point: “Breath of Life,” the first single off the soundtrack for the upcoming potential blockbuster Snow White and the Huntsman.

This song is huge. It starts with a simple piano and then it explodes. The track grows into a song that features a large orchestra and a 60-piece choir.

For lead singer Florence Welch, the inspiration of the song came directly from the movie. The character that stuck out to her the most was the evil queen.

Florence spoke to MTV about the song and she had this to say about the Queen:

“I got a lot of material from her! Beauty, death, life … it was pushing all of my buttons.”
