An Arizona toddler died after accidently shooting himself in the face with his grandmother’s gun…while she was high on meth.

Darrien Nez, 3-years-old, picked up Rachel Spry’s 9mm pistol out of her backpack and fired it. Spry, 35, was sorting clothes in the bathroom and didn’t notice Darrien had come in and taken her bag, which she had left on top of the dryer.

Five minutes later, she heard the gun go off.

When she looked over, she saw her grandson lying on the floor and bleeding from the nose. Cops arrived to find Nez seriously injured. He later died in the hospital. Spry confessed she’d used meth at 11 p.m. the previous night and that she had a pipe in her backpack.

Spry was arrested and faces manslaughter charges as well as misconduct involving weapons, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $500,000.

We’re not about gun life at all, but if you’re going to have one, gun safety is not a joke, man. Rest in peace Darrien.
