Former Congressman Anthony Weiner, 47, who was removed from office after sexting an infamous picture of his penis, has not completely fallen off the radar. The defamed politician has $4.5 million at his disposal for a campaign war, and he’s seriously considering running for mayor.

Weiner is also running for a public advocate position as a backup plan. Reportedly, he’s contacted former staffers about coming back to work with him. Sources described the Queens, NY Democrat as desperate to get back into politics, according to the New York Post.

Weiner wants to run soon, because his campaign funds expire after the 2013 election.

The political world is saying that he has a better shot at the public advocate position -which pays $165,000-a-year. They say that he can use that position as a stopping post to work hard, clear his name, and run for mayor in 2017.

“The general feeling is that you can’t text pictures of your penis to a girl, then lie about it, then get kicked out of the House and then run for mayor right after,” said a political consultant. “But people believe there is a way for him to run for a lesser office.”

Weiner has kept a low profile since he took himself out of the political picture, when he tweeted a picture of his penis to a 21-year-old college student, and then falsely claimed that his account was hacked. Since the incident, he’s played the quiet role of stay-at-home dad in Queens. His wife, senior Hilary Rodham Clinton aide Huma Abedin, 35, has stayed in her high-powered job.
