Yesterday we reported that over 52 percent of Republican primary voters in Mississippi and Alabama believe President Obama is a Muslim or not Christian.

Today the conversation has again turned to the legitimacy of Obama’s citizenship status, as the old carnival barkers are rearing their ugly heads to claim that President Obama isn’t a natural born citizen.
Which is why Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) is back to endorsing birtherism.
Stearns met with constituents on February 25 in Belleview, and one of the first questions came from an elderly gentleman who insisted that Obama was not born in the United States and ought to be impeached.
Instead of correcting him and telling him he was wrong, Stearns only added fuel to the fire of conspiracy, implying that Obama’s birth certificate may be a forgery — “is it legitimate?” Stearns wondered aloud.
