HBO is apologizing after its hit show Game of Thrones featured a look-alike of former President George W. Bush’s severed head impaled on a spike.

Only appearing for a split second the President’s body-less head is seen in an episode of the fantasy series that aired last year.

No one noticed the political beheading until a Reddit user flagged it, bringing it to light.

One of the writers of the show isn’t denying the controversy saying in DVD commentary that the Republican’s likeness “appears in a couple of beheading scenes” but insisted no one is playing politics.

“We just had to use whatever head we had around,” the writer said.

HBO released a statement of apology saying-

“We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste…We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.”

Looks like HBO tried to pull a fast one on their audience figuring that no one would notice but they were wrong.
