A drive-by shooting in Glasgow has sent a hitchhiker to the hospital and landed Charles Lloyd Danielson III in custody.

The West Virginia hitchhiker, identified as 39-year-old Raymond Dolin, suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the arm. Coincidentally, Dolin is the process of writing a book about hitchhiking and the kindness of America based on his cross-country travels.

The incident happened at around 6 p.m. on Saturday at a historical marker west of Glasgow on Highway 2.

According to Valley County authorities, Danielson pulled up alongside Dolin and shot him, then fled the scene.

Authorities say Dolin sustained a single gunshot wound in the arm, but was able to flag down help and was then transported to the hospital in Glasgow.

Danielson was later found and arrested east of Glasgow in Culbertson and he is currently being held on the suspicion of felony assault with a weapon and driving under the influence.
