The argument that fetuses can feel pain worked in the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday, prompting the passing of a bill that prohibits women from having abortions 20 weeks after conception. It’s unlikely, however, that the bill will go to the Senate. [HuffPost]

Ohio is at it again. It was discovered that a mentally disabled woman and her daughter were held in an apartment in Ohio, crowded with animals for more than a year. The two were forced to perform manual labor and were threatened by snakes and pit bulls to keep them fearful. Three people, 26-year-old Jordie Callahan, 31-year-old Jessica Hunt and 33-year-old Daniel Brown — were arrested and charged with forced labor. [CNN]

A pool party in the Mexican city of Leon went from summertime fun, to panic and comas. The organizers of the event poured liquid nitrogen into the water, a move that left one 21-year-old man in a coma and hospitalized eight others. [DailyMail]

Death certificates from the children who were shot in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre reveal that all but two died from multiple gun shot wounds. 

One student was killed by a single bullet to the head, while another suffered a gunshot to the neck. The other victims, 18 students and six teachers, all died from multiple bullets fired by gunman Adam Lanza. [DailyMail]
