Harvard professor and Hip-Hop intellectual, Michael Eric Dyson, had some primetime TV time last night as he filled in for Ed Schultz on his MSNBC show The Ed Show.

EXCLUSIVE: The N*gga Blog By Russell Simmons

The topic of discussion? The “N-Word” as it has been in the news in recent days after Academy Award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted “Ni**as in Paris for real” as she partied with The-Dream, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Spike Lee.

Dyson debated the topic with our own Russell Simmons (Uncle Rush), from his home in the Hamptons, as to whether or not she got a pass on using the word. As Uncle Rush told Dyson-

“That reality seeps out into the communities, outside of the black community, and some people mistakenly use the word…I managed The Beastie Boys, 3rd Bass, all the first white rappers. Eminem has elected not to use it. I recommend anyone who doesn’t have a direct blood line to a slave not use it.”

It was a compelling discussion between the two public figures and well worth a watch.
