Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, the man accused of firing shots near the White House will be charged with attempting to assassinate the President Obama or a member of his staff.

Ortega will remain in federal custody at least until a magistrate in Washington can determine if he should remain jailed until his trial on the charge, which carries up to life in prison.

According to court documents Hernandez believed he was Jesus and thought President Barack Obama was the Antichrist. At one point, he even suggested to an acquaintance the president was planning to implant computer tracking chips into children.

New info has emerged about Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, the man who authorities believe was behind the White House shooting that occurred last Friday night.

Authorities say that he believed attacking the White House was part of a personal mission from God, according to a law enforcement official who spoke with The Associated Press.

Police believe Hernandez was obsessed with President Barack Obama and pulled his car within view of the White House to fire shots from an assault rifle, cracking a window of the first family’s living quarters.

The bullets recovered on Tuesday were stopped by a protective ballistic glass.

Police believe Hernandez has a history of mental illness and has an extensive record, ranging from domestic violence to drug charges. Hernandez was captured yesterday at a Pennsylvania hotel.

Ortega is scheduled to make his first appearance at 2 p.m. Thursday in federal court in Pittsburgh.
