Rep. Joe Walsh is the latest Republican using baseless facts to argue that there should be restrictions on a women’s right to have an abortion, even if the pregnancy has put her life in danger.

STORY: Keep Fighting Eva, We Got Your Back!

During a debate against Tammy Duckwork, a Democrat and wounded veteran, for a congressional seat in Illinois that took place on WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” Thursday night, Walsh declared that women should not be permitted to have an abortion when the “life of the mother” is at risk, because modern day science can prevent her from dying. “Life of a woman is not an exception,” declared the Tea Party supporter.

Duckworth also pointed out that the conservative candidate is cosponsoring legislation that would redefine rape as “forcible rape” and prohibit federal funding for abortions, except in instances of “an act of forcible rape or, if a minor, an act of incest.”

After the debate, Walsh reiterated his stance against abortion when a mother’s life is at risk in a press conference:

“There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing, with advances in science and technology health of the mother has become a tool for abortions for anytime under any reason,” said the pro-life candidate.

What’s even more shocking than Joe Walsh’s statements is the fact that he has the platform and power to enforce legislation that backs his baseless beliefs. Something must be done!
