There’s no doubt that Beyonce is building an empire, but in her newest interview, she makes it very clear that from the top of the throne, she doesn’t see much competition.

Beyonce signed on to be the cover girl for the bi-annual style magazine Gentlewoman, and was photographed by Alasdair McLellan. The cover boasts a simplistic feel sans the high fashion grandiosity of most magazine covers.

And Beyonce was just as natural when it came to talking about building her empire.

The songstress broke down how she builds her legacy:

“I’m controlling my content, controlling my brand and archiving it for my daughter and making sure she has it and she respects it but there’s not enough of us that become moguls. And I think there are many ways to get there.”

But it has not all been smooth sailing:

“I just have memories of when there was no air conditioning in the new building and we didn’t have an office. It was like camping.”

Well, if the worst we had to encounter was a building without A.C., we wouldn’t mind taking a walk in Beyonce’s shoes!
