First Instagram faux broke users’ hearts earlier this week with a discrepancy in their privacy policy, and now Facebook is making some changes that may put a dent in your bus money.

Darn you Zuckerberg!

The new initiative to bring in the bucks will be charging users $1 to send inbox messages to Facebook users who are not on their friend list.

Don’t panic yet, this doesn’t mean you’ll be charged to send all messages, the dollar charge just ensures that your message makes it to the primary inbox where users get messages from their friends and not to the “other” inbox where spam and unsolicited messages from people not on the users buddy list get sent.

Facebook explained the initiative in a blog that read as follows:

“Today we’re starting a small experiment to test the usefulness of economic signals to determine relevance. This test will give a small number of people the option to pay to have a message routed to the Inbox rather than the Other folder of a recipient that they are not connected with.”

According to Wired.com, Facebook believes that by imposing a financial cost on the sender, it will discourage “unwanted messages” and facilitate the delivery of messages that are “relevant and useful.”

Zuckerberg really has his thinking cap on lately, huh?

Before you get your panties in a social media bunch, remember that this idea is still in the trial period and really doesn’t do much other than allow someone the opportunity to expedite their messages to your inbox for a buck.
