Hip-hop, we made it.

Seriously, if this isn’t boss sh*t, then we don’t know what is! In a true feat of rags to riches, Jay-Z is on the cover of TIME Magazines much acclaimed “100 Most Influential People In The World” Issue.

Once a year, TIME presents its list of the 100 most influential people in the world, from artists and leaders to pioneers, titans and icons.

MUSIC: Jay-Z & Common “Open Letter Pt. II”

Jigga snatched up one of seven covers celebrating the movers and shakers that are changing the world one day at a time – no matter their method.

And not only did he get a cover, but his write up was done by none other than New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Check out what Bloom Boy had to say about Jay-Z in TIME below. Check out the full list of most influential people in the world here.

Jay Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition. When no one would sign him to a record contract, he created his own label and built a music empire — before going on to design clothing lines, open sports bars and, most recently, represent professional athletes…

Drake coined it and Jigga just epitomized it: Started from the bottom now…

We’re sure you know the rest.
