While most stories of runway models may seem like they are full with glitz, glam and jet setting from Paris to Milan and all the fashion cities in-between, Jourdan Dunn’s life is singing a different tune.

Yes, her life is filled with all the amenities afforded to a high fashion runway model, but with a son who suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia, and seeing her boyfriend at the time get locked up for cocaine possession, Jourdan’s story is nothing close to a fairy tale.

In her latest interview with The Sunday Times, Jourdan detailed her life off the runway.

Speaking on her son Riley’s sickle cell anemia she said:

“It’s something people don’t really know about, due to the fact it’s genetic, so it doesn’t have the high profile of HIV or malaria.”

On telling her mother about her pregnancy:

“I made Antoine [her brother] distract Mum in HMV at the airport on the way to a family holiday, while I did the pregnancy test. It was the worst holiday ever,” she says. “I didn’t tell Mum, but in Jamaica, we went to see a psychic together who said straight away I was pregnant. I denied it, but went back to see him on my own. He told me that great things would happen to me with the baby. He was right.”

After giving birth to her son Riley, Jourdan admits that she didn’t bounce back like most models do and that at the first fitting after giving birth to her son, the clothes didn’t fit and the shoot had to be cancelled.

Nice to know that these beauties admit to being human!
