GlobalGrind was on deck last night at the New Museum in NoLita, NYC, to celebrate the launch of the new Hennessy Very Special Cognac bottles designed by world renowned New York-based artist KAWS

The bottles are limited in edition and are coveted by some of the artist’s stans, so much so, that a check point had to be established near the 7th floor elevator of the museum to prevent five finger discounts.

DJ Questlove provided the night’s soundtrack which included funk, soul and old school hip-hop synched to video projections on the opposite side of the room.

Quest saw the whole night through rose tinted glasses that matched some of the records on his turntables. Scents of the mighty weed wafted through the air, as trays of drinks and finger foods (lamb meatballs with a cherry sauce, bacon & cheddar toast, crostini garnished with juniper blossoms and the best cookies EVER) flowed through the crowd, delicately balanced and delivered by leggy cocktail servers.

It was all good until security threatened to kill the fun because scents of Kush started to stink up the venue. It got so bad Questlove had to make an announcement begging revelers to stop smoking. Luckily, the puff puff passers listened.

After the break, some scenes from the party!
