Two collections we enjoyed looking at today and yesterday at Paris Fashion Week included similarly named Carven & Lanvin.
Lanvin’s collection for S/S 2012 had plenty of prints on the runway, some of them involving snakes, knits and sheers, pushing a ’60s feel, evocative of some of the looks seen on runways last week in London and very similar to Gucci’s looks for F/W 2011.

Jewel encrusted crucifixes and clunky necklaces hung prominently around necks of models, vivid make up also recalled ’60s flower power.
Meanwhile Carven’s approach had a childlike sensibility that was both playful and colorful. Short skirts with Zap! Pow! zig-zag patterns, reminiscent of pencil sharpener leavings, were the order of the day. Although pretty, they don’t come cheap!
