Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit’s former mayor was sentenced today by judge David Groner to serve between 18 months and five years in a state prison. Another chapter in the case of Kwame Kilpatrick take a look at his final words to the court;
“I spent a whole year feeling an enormous amount of guilt for what I did to my wife, my children, and city. that guy,” Kilpatrick said, referring to himself — the one who failed to fully disclose his finances, as required by the probation agreement, that’s not me anymore .You don’t ever have to worry about me committing a crime. You don’t ever have to worry about me being a danger to the community.”
Kilpatrick was the youngest mayor in the history of Detroit. Kilpatrick name was in numerous scandals and many accusations of corruption, he was eventually charged with ten felony counts, including perjury and obstruction of justice.
