Following in the “Today'” show’s tradition of bringing extra star power to the show with its annual concert series, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Cee Lo, Bruno Mars, New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and Lenny Kravitz will hit the outdoor stage beginning later this month. Rihanna will set things off and launch the series on May 27. The Bajan diva is expected to perform hits from her chart-topping “Loud” album.

In a surprising move, NBC has added Chris Brown to the lineup despite his recent tantrum after his appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” in March. Brown reportedly through a tantrum in the dressing room after being annoyed with Robin Roberts’ questions regarding the 2009 assualt on ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown should make it through the “Today” show appearance without a hitch since the concert series does not require a traditional sit down interview. Brown’s “Today” show appearance is slated to air on July 15.

It’s not clear when Cee Lo and Mars will perform, but rocker Lenny Kravitz is expected to wrap up the summer concert series with the last performance on September 2.
