Contenders: Benjamin Netanyahu vs. Barack Obama

Match: On Friday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bluntly rejected President Barack Obama’s vision for the borders of a future Palestinian state, opening up one of the deepest divides in years between Washington and the Jewish state.

In an unusually sharp rebuke to Israel’s closest ally, Netanyahu told Obama his endorsement of a long-standing Palestinian demand to go back to Israel’s 1967 boundaries — meaning big concessions of occupied land — would leave Israel “indefensible.”

Weight: $15 Million

How They Hustled: Racks on Racks! George W. Bush has earned at least $15 million for nearly 140 paid speeches since he left office in Jan. 2009. That’s an average of about $110,000 per speech. His average fee is pegged between $100,000 and $150,000.

What Happened: Isn’t great when politicians fight? Vice speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Adam Martynyuk took matters into his own hands during a recent debate when he throttled a deputy legislator.

The fisticuffs began when Martynyuk refused to allow politician Oleg Lyashko to make a speech that he had not signed up for “in accordance with regulations,” according to the Kyiv Post. Lyashko responded by calling the senior statesman a “Pharisee.”

Shame On You

Who: Michelle McCutchan

Where: Tulsa, Oklahoma

What: Most likley the worst story of the day, an elementary school teacher has been jailed after admitting making a sex tape with her daughter’s 16-year-old boyfriend. Michelle McCutchan,38, confessed to having sex with the teen on at least five occasions and setting up a video camera to film two of the romps.

The mother of one also sent the teen nude pictures of herself as well as sexually explicit texts during their five month affair.

Hero of the day

Who: Tia Norfleet

What: Did it take until 2011 for a black female to join Nascar? Apparently so, Tia Norfleet, 24, is breaking barriers as she becomes the first black women to kick in the doors of Nascar. 

Norfleet is trying to become the first to make it into the NASCAR circuit. It’s a goal she’s been aiming toward for quite some time. She has been successful at drag racing and on the shorter tracks circuit known as the NASCAR late models, where she recorded two top-15 finishes, though she has not yet qualified for the longer distance tracks such as Daytona and Talladega.

Where: United States

What Happened: Is AT&T ripping off thier customers? Probabaly as it was revealed that the phone company is “systematically overcharging” up to 20 million Americans who use their iPhone or iPad to access data on the go, an investigation has uncovered. The lawsuit alleges the phone giant routinely over charges customers between 7 and 14 percent, and in some cases up to 300 percent.

In tests, engineers said they found the company charged for downloading data and surfing the web even when the iPhones remained untouched.

Who: The GLBT  Community

What Happened: Well it’s about time. For the first time in Gallup’s poll history tracking of the issue of gay marriage, a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The increase since last year came exclusively among political independents and Democrats. Republicans’ views did not change.

What: Amy Fisher, the so-called “Long Island Lolita,” is arrested for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco on the front porch of her Massapequa, New York, home. Fisher, only 17 at the time of the shooting, was having an affair with 38-year-old Joey Buttafuoco, Mary Jo’s husband.
