Blogger presence at New York Fashion Week is bigger than ever.

This year, Tumblr will send a battalion in addition to the legion of independent writers and fashion enthusiasts who will be stalking Lincoln Center. Traditional fashion journalists and some designers, have mixed feelings.

GlobalGrind spoke by phone and email to fashion blogger and video producer Izzy Ruiz about his strategy and plans for 2011 Fashion’s Night Out and NY Fashion Week.

Here’s how it went down!

GlobalGrind: Are you excited about Fashion’s Night Out? What are you plans?

Izzy Ruiz: Yes, I am always excited! I get anxious trying to figure out where I am going to go, who I am going to invite to go with me and what I am going to wear. I have been in a frenzy this week going shopping, trying to find something special. I know I am going to the Francis Henry show today and I am actually still waiting for a confirmation from Kevin Leong if I can go to that show tonight. Then I think there is a party at Stone Road at the Time Warner Center. We had the Sicka Than Average anniversary party there because it’s a really cute spot. I am going to go to the party for Copperwheat, I think 2(Exist) is having a party. There are a couple of different things that are out there and I hope that I can find my way into one or many of them.

Who are you looking forward to seeing for fashion week?

For Fashion Week, in terms of menswear, Rag & Bone. I am a really big fan of theirs. He is such a classic designer and I love what Michael Kors always puts together. I’m not a crazy, eccentric kind of dresser, so I don’t really look for his show to buy stuff, but it is just a beautiful, well done and really classy show every season. I look forward to that just as a spectator. G-Star shows are always fun in terms of cool urban clothing. Christian Siriano always has really fun stuff to put out there. I am looking forward to whoever puts out the most colorful, uniquely proportioned and shaped collection. I am looking forward to what is going to be the most unique trend of next season.

What is one of your pet peeves about Fashion Week?

It is always a pain in the ass at the door even if you have an invitation, especially if you’re press. Having to elbow your way through, even though you have a confirmation. You still have to fight the crowds to even get your foot in the door, so that’s always difficult. And also, no one starts on time so you’re always running from one party to the next and you’re always late! So my pet peeve is constantly being on line.

How many publications are you reporting for?

I am reporting for Sicka Than Average, for my own blog which I am launching this fall, MrIzzyRuiz.com. I am also looking for young designers who may want to do some video work because I am a video producer and I just launched this year Eleven Eleven Productions with Sarah Scott Scarborough. Her and I have worked with Ardene, a fabulous Canadian brand. We re-launched their brand which should be up in the stores next month. We worked with MSNBC and Target so I am looking for new clients that may want to do some fun video work. I will be styling Lelia Broussard on her tour, so I am shopping for indie designers that may want to dress this up-and-coming Rolling Stone critically acclaimed singer-songwriter.

What are your essentials for Fashion Week?

My Nikon Coolpix s6000, Sephora Matte Blotting papers, a Fashionary designer’s journal to take notes and sketches during a show. There’s a glossary if you’re not sure what kind of plaids or stitching, or even a type of button fastening you may see on the runway (www.fashionary.org). A compact, over-the-shoulder satchel ‘cus the crowds are too much for anything bigger and, sadly, an umbrella for now!
