When GlobalGrind caught a glimpse of the gorgeous Jaslene Gonzalez on the cover of Ocean Drive Puerto Rico magazine, all we could say was, wow!!

EXCLUSIVE: Jaslene Gonzalez On Being Latina In Fashion

You already know the refreshingly down to earth model as the winner of America’s Next Top Model, but Jaslene has come a long way since then. Miss Gonzalez has appeared in numerous fashion magazines, editorials, walked the runway countless times and even guest spotted as a celeb correspondent for GG!

We had the pleasure to speak with Jaslene about her recent photo shoot, her roots in Puerto Rico and her plans for 2011. Check out our exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: We got your Ocean Drive cover and you look gorgeous!

Jaslene: Thank you!

Who are you wearing on the cover?

I’m wearing Louis Vuitton.

Where did you shoot this cover?

We actually shot in Jersey City. My hair and makeup were done at the photographer’s house and we shot around his neighborhood. We were looking for grungy kind of backgrounds.

Where is your favorite location you’ve shot at before?

Puerto Rico. I have my family and friends there that can come on set, so we can make it a whole family affair!

Are all of your family still in Puerto Rico, or do you have anybody here with you?

I have my aunt and my cousin. Not everyone lives there. It’s an honor, feeling like a supermodel in my hometown and getting treated like one.

What are your plans for the rest of 2011?

My plan for 2011 is to keep pushing. I’m doing a lot of photo shoots, and I have a lot of projects in the making.

I’ll be going to Honduras for their Fashion Week. I’m getting represented by an agency in Mexico, so I’ll be going out there to try their whole modeling market.

Will that be new for you?

Yes. I’ve never really worked in an all-Latino market, so that will be a new adventure for me!

You’ve gotten a lot of recognition from America’s Next Top Model. Everybody knows who you are, so it’s great to be able to represent your community.

Yes, thank you! It’s an honor to be a face for the Latin community.
