We’re getting closer and closer to Mary J Blige‘s next album. If you needed any proof, this week’s release of “Love A Woman” was all the proof you need. It features the production of hit maker/songwriter and artist Sean Garrett. But it’s the collaboration with fellow R&B superpower Beyonce that truly sets the record a part as the hottest song heard this week.

Both break down THE definition of what it takes to truly love a woman. This song will be a huge smash in the months to come as nothing this powerful, this enduring, this enjoyable to ear, this meaningful is on the radio. Mary is our Queen of R&B. Beyonce is like the first lady of hip-pop, a modern day Marylin Monroe, a more refined Diana Ross in her prime. This type of power together on one record, on one stage will be truly out of this world.

Salute to Busta Rhymes. What a week for Bus and for that matter, what a year. If you haven’t heard this week he joined forces with Cash Money Records. This past year has seen Busta redefine himself in music with the smash he put out with Chris Brown “Look At Me Now.” Add to that he put together a new click of MCs called the Conglomerate. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”; so this week he dropped a new single with Breezy titled “Why Stop Now?”

Exactly, why stop now Bus? What’s remarkable about Busta is that he’s remained relevant in hip-hop music since the early ’90s. Most of you new school MCs could never hold a match to Rhymes’ wordplay or breath control.

I really dig Travis Porter. They’re fun, funny and part of the near future of hip-pop music. This week a new track, “You Don’t Know” featuring Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz hit the airwaves, clubs and blogs. The genius in this record is combining the forces of Porter, who is hot with the college crowd, with 2 Chainz and Jeezy who definitely cater to the streets.

In the ATL these scenes often collide in parties similar to the way of the New York hip-hop scene of the ’90s. Travis Porter and Odd Future would make an incredible tour. Hmm…

Anything that B.o.B spits on is incredible so you know when you catch a new joint with him, Big K.R.I.T and Bun B it’s going to be must hear music. Peep “5 On The Kush” but before you do make sure you’re in the car with the seat back and the bass low on the sub woofers. Word to the late great J Dilla, producer 2 Much puts his spin on The Impressions sample “We Must Be in Love” over a southern fried 808 kick snare. The result is a track so bangin’ that it should have come with a neck brace. Lyrically, with a title like “5 On The Kush,” I don’t have to even explain the content.

Chris Webby is one of the dopest underground artists on the come up. Coming straight out of Norwalk, Connecticut, Webby has been making noise for the past few years now doing records with the likes of Freeway and Joell Ortiz just to name a few. This week he reappeared with a new heater “What I Do.”

If you’re not familar with Chris Webby you should spend some time on YouTube, as the young lyricist has definitely been laying his bones in the underground scene. Stay Tuned….Until we read again.
