A pregnant 19-year-old who was peppered sprayed last week at an Occupy Seattle protest has now suffered a miscarriage.

Jennifer Fox was brutally pepper sprayed when protesters were met by riot police as they gathered at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Pine Street after marching from their camp at Seattle Central Community College.

Fox says she was three months pregnant last Tuesday evening when she joined the Occupy Seattle march and told The Stranger:

“I was standing in the middle of the crowd when the police started moving in, I was screaming, ‘I am pregnant, I am pregnant. Let me through. I am trying to get out.'”

At that point, Fox says that a Seattle police officer lifted his foot and it hit her in the stomach, and another officer pushed his bicycle into the crowd, again hitting Fox in the stomach.

Fox continued:

“Right before I turned, both cops lifted their pepper spray and sprayed me. My eyes puffed up and my eyes swelled shut.”

Fox says she has been camping out with the Occupy Seattle movement since it began and on the night of the assault, a friend called for an ambulance near the community college campus. When she arrived at Harborview Medical Center, the doctor told her that “there was no heartbeat” from the baby.

As Fox tells it:

“They diagnosed that I was having a miscarriage. They said the damage was from the kick and that the pepper spray got to it, the fetus, too.”

Pepper Spray has been the weapon of choice when it comes to law enforcement against OWS protesters. And don’t get it twisted, pepper spray is not a food no matter what Fox News said.

The other night, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly joined Bill O’Reilly to discuss the protesters at UC Davis and whether or not they deserved to get pepper sprayed while staging a nonviolent protest.

When O’Reilly asked Kelly what happened when pepper spray is applied she answered:

“It’s like a derivative of actual pepper. It’s a food product, essentially.”

A food product? Tell that to Jennifer Fox who just lost her baby.

The excessive force used by the Seattle Police and all law enforcement when it comes to OWS across the country has been inexcusable.

Pepper spray, tear gas and batons have been their weapon of choice, while the voice of the people has been the only defense of the OWS protesters.
