Nothing but good hip-hop music this week. Ain’t nothin’ to it but to do it so let’s get into it.
Nicki Minaj is on her grind getting checks in every hemisphere this globe has to offer. She re-vamped into her alter ego Roman this week and unleashed “Roman in Moscow” on any and all haters ‘who wanna come test‘ her.’ True to Nicki and her hollyweird superstardom is this Moscow version to the Roman series. It’s basically part two of last year’s lyrical slaughter when she decapitated a certain female rapper verse by verse in what was a comical satire.

This version doesn’t have the major wow factor like the original “Roman’s Revenge,” but only because Nicki all but destroyed her comp the first time out. But Roman is back on the attack. Will the Queen checkmate? We’ll see….

It’s December so that means holidays and bowl games. In the city of Houston, The University of Houston’s football team is one of the best in country for the first time in a long time, boasting a 12-0 record. They’re ranked 6th in the country and if you follow college football you know that means a BCS bid.

Houston rapper Slim Thug took full advantage of the opportunity and provided the team, the school and arguably all college football the hottest pre-game fight song ever. It’s called “U of H Fight.” On the track is also Bun B and Paul Wall. It’s really cool when rappers provide theme music for the occasion, but it’s even cooler when its a hood superstar artist like Slim Thug, Bun and Paul Wall. The track itself is must hear music. Peep.

If you haven’t peeped Young Jeezy‘s new documentary, let me be the first to tell you it’s a great story about success, failure and the cost of it all. It’s only fitting that Jeezy is setting the mood in the music business for his soon to drop TM103 (Thug Motivation 103). This week he unveiled the highly anticipated Freddie Gibbs track with Eminem on the hook “Talk To Me.”

You should definitely watch his story because it truly gives you an insight to where he got his rhyme style and delivery from. Jeezy is hip-hop music in every sense of the word. His progression to becoming an artist was about as unforced as it truly should be. After you watch the documentary listen to “Talk To Me” and really SEE what Jeezy is saying.

The Midwest is a hotbed of hip-hop talent right now. From Freddie Gibbs to our next artist Jon Conner, dope music is bubbling out our country’s belly like four glasses of prune juice. Conner is back this week with Chicago rappers GLC and Caas Swift on a hot new pimp record “Church Is On The Move.”

Not sure if the Midwest ‘Church’ is the same as the west coast ‘Chuurch!’ but it’s all good. This record is all about laid back pimpin’ and what it takes. If you’re not a pimp or pimp period, don’t even bother trying to understand that lingo in this record.

Another artist really creating a problem is from the Windy City, himself King Louie. Not too sure if the King is a ruler from any nation. I’m sure Louie’s never been to England to be knighted so let’s just say the King is hood royalty. In Chicago that’s almost but not quite the chief…dig me?

Anyway this new record “Too Cool” featuring 2 Chainz and Red Cafe is one hottest records circulating. Louie is a problem in the Chi. His Best Of King Louie mixtape with DJ V Dubb ‘The Mixtape Bully’ was on every A&R’s desk before Def Jam made a move. King Louie is the next from the Chi to shine. Until we read again…
