James Ramseur was made popular in the mid-1980s when he and a group of three friends were shot on a subway by Bernhard Goetz.

The incident that occured decades ago divided a community. One side believed that Bernhard shot the teens because they were attempting to rob him, and the other side believed that Bernhard acted out of racism.

The act by Bernhard forced James into a coma and he had to undergo multiple sugeries. But now, James is gone forever.

According to the NY Daily News, James was found dead next to his bed Thursday when the manager of the Paradise Motor Inn motel went into his room, realizing he did not check out and return keys.

Next to James were two empty bottles of pills that had their labels scratch off. Police are assuming that James committed suicide by overdose.

Between the 1985 shooting that James was a victim of and now, he had been no friend of the law. Only three months after he was out of his coma, at 18, James committed kidnap.

The ex-con was also released from prison in 2010 for a rape conviction.

Despite the fact that James had been a menace to society, our deepest condolences go out to his family.
