Merry Christmas to you and yours!

At this point in the year most artist have dropped their albums for 2011 but a few are already gearing up for 2K12.

The Far East Movement went to the Midwest and linked up with Kid Cudi and Chip Tha Ripper for a new track called “Ride 4 U.”

This collabo is dope because its so completely left field and yet fresh to def!

Who would have expected this?

The Movement and Chip flex skills over a beat provided by none other then Dot Da Genius. The chorus is sung by Kid Cudi of course.

This a great look for Chip, being that he’s been slept on for so long as an MC. It’s also a great look for The Far East to work with the hot ‘next’ to blow instead of the established ‘status quo.’

Underground hip hop vet Apathy wants to wish everyone a very Grimey X-Mas.

In the tradition of rappers making great holiday music (Run DMC’s Christmas in Hollis or Kanye’s Christmas in Harlem) Ap drops “A Wonderful X Mas Time.”

In true hip hop fashion, like the Grinch who stole Christmas, Scoop Deville jacks  Paul McCartney’s classic Wonderful Christmas Time. He adds a classic drum kit  and Pauls vocal sample.

Apathy adds 32 bars of shock and awe for an interesting take on what ‘he wants’ for Christmas.

A Wonderful X Mas probably won’t be on Paul McCartney’s Ipod playlist but that doesn’t mean your head won’t nod and you won’t appreciate the humor.

David Banner started circulating his record “Yao Ming” featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne last week.

For some reason Weezys version became ‘unofficial’ and so a newer version featuring A$AP Rocky has given this record an adrenaline boost. Warning! this song Yao Ming is not a tribute to the retired 7 foot legend from Beijing who was the centerpiece for the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

his time Yao Ming is an adjective, if you can believe it, used to describe large status. David Banner is smart, as the superstars on this track are 2 Chainz and A$AP.

Both of these artist have big projects coming for 2K12 and they give this record life support to make it worth listening to.

Pill is probably the most slept on artist coming from the ATL.

The kids wordplay is on par with the likes of Killa Mike. Pills name has been buzzing these days amidst the rumors of the rift between him and Maybach Music.

Make no mistake though, Pill was a stand alone artist long before he was signed anywhere. His latest song “Represent” should remind those who forgot. His next project The Epidemic drops in 2k12. Stay Tuned.

Run DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” is still one of the most incredible holiday records ever to be released.

The record is almost 25 years old and yet is a classic for kids and adults who were once kids. Christmas in Hollis spoke to me and every other young person that was kid in ’87 more then Frosty or Rudolph.

Run DMC was at the forefront of hip hop culture during this time. Christmas in Hollis made them household names. It made Run DMC the standard for all hip hop artist, past and present to aspire to be.

Jay Z, Weezy, Diddy and 50 are all larger then life with huge classics in their own discographies. But none of them have a “Christmas in Hollis”, a timeless record that is loved, listened to and respected by generations of music lovers.

Until we Read Again.
