Happy New Year to you and yours.

2K11 was a year to remember. It seemed liked the whole world revolted in protest against the establishment.

Meanwhile the economy is in shambles. People are growing restless, especially the young. Getting a job in America these days is like trying to lose 100 pounds in 3 days.

Still we have the music.

It’s the universal language that speaks to all our emotions no matter what race, religion, country, or social status. It’s what I write about and it’s what you should love.

With that said let us remember those who left us this year with their great gift of music: Dobie Gray, Heavy D, Sylvia Robinson, Nick Ashford, Amy Winehouse, Clarence’ The Big Man Clemons, Gil Scott-Heron, Phoebe Snow, Nate Dogg, John Berry, Gladys Horton, Slim Dunkin, Jerry Leiber, Jani Lane and Tom Garvin.

Good night my friends and thank you for the ride. Although I’m sorry you had to leave too soon, I hope you made it home safely. What you left us with, even in your spirit, is priceless and will live forever. Peace!

Lady Gaga has the hottest record in the world this week. Now she normally has the hottest records but “Stuck on F*ckin You” is completely out of the norm from what you’ve come to expect. But Gaga is an artist so she can paint a picture on any canvas. Expect this to become on of those B Side hits. Obviously Lady G was nice when she recorded this but it still came out dope. A simple guitar riff under a bass drop and clap with Gaga singing her drunk heart out. It’s genuine and shows her versatility. Probably won’t get much airplay but I promise when Gaga performs “Stuck on F*ckin You” live, the whole arena will know the words.

Frank Ocean leaked his newest single “4 Tears” for all to enjoy. Ocean is simply put, one of the nicest new r&b guys out. If you haven’t heard this guy sing you should definitely peep this and then google Novacane. This is just a little something to whet the appetite of his fans until his debut album drops on Def Jam. You can also peep him out on that Watch The Throne album.

B.o.B continues to deliver us his genius in music. This time he teams up with hit producer Salaam Remi and Andre 3000 for a dope new uptempo headnodder “Play The Guitar.” Shout to T.I. on this too. His vocal sample makes up the hook so you know he got paid on this as well. But back to this record that’s hotter then stolen iPhones in NYC. Both B.o.B and Andre 3 Stacks attack this beat with wordplay superior to most. Salaam Remi never disappoints on a beat. Looks like B.o.B.’s next album is going to be another classic.

Fresh off the success of his street smash “Shot Caller,” French Montana continues to ride the chariots of success. If you haven’t heard yet, he signed a new deal to Bad Boy so French is smelling fresh like new money. Never letting new money swell his head, French let it swell his pockets. Then he drops another heater with Ace Hood called “You Don’t Hear Me Though.” French truly grinded hard to get his shot. Under Diddy he will either blossom or become disgruntled. Either way lets hope the music stays fresh.

Reks was largly quiet in 2011 but it seems like he and his Show Off Records Ceo capo Statik Selektah are back to work for 2012. This week I heard his new record “Autrographs” that will have underground heads nodding off like dope fiends. Word to the legendary DJ Premier, Statik has really stepped up his production skills. Reks wordplay is legendary in the underworld. He’s a champ amongst his fellow wordsmiths.
