“I will go to the NAACP convention, and tell the African-American community why they should demand paychecks instead of food stamps.” – Newt Gingrich

STORY: Talk That Sh*t! Newt Gingrich Tells Black People – No More Food Stamps

With all due respect Mr. Gingrich, I have no interest in demanding food stamps, and its quite insulting to suggest, as I believe you do, that the Black community would prefer handouts to jobs.

Of course we want jobs. But there are things that I, as well as most members of the Black community, value even more than a paycheck: The kind of America that inspires–and creates the environment for all of us reach our highest potential.

So please, if you have any interest in advancing the Black community  which, quite frankly, I’ve seen little evidence of based on your Congressional record, refrain from your inclination to mention food stamps and welfare when discussing us.

Hasn’t anyone clued you in to the reality that we too are Americans, and that we value the same things that White Americans value.

I value a good education. I value safe communities. I value affordable health care. I value being given the opportunity to live out the good ol’ American Dream.

Join the Black community as we demand a higher quality of education for our children. Join the Black community in our fight against drugs and violence. Join the Black community in our struggle to get not only affordable health care, but good quality health care.

This is what the Black community values, this is what AMERICA values.

Instead of playing politics and making an attempt to rally the Black community, join the fight.

I don’t want your paycheck, Mr. Gingrich. Nor do I want your lectures. I want initiative and I want strong leadership.
