Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn made a shocking revelation on television yesterday: He has been celibate for nearly three decades.

Tim, who is infamous for his catchphrase “Make it work,” revealed that he couldn’t make it work with an ex-lover 29-years ago, and hasn’t had sex since.
During an appearance on yesterday’s episode of The Revolution, ABC’s new health and lifestyle program which he co-hosts, Tim emotionally revealed that his vow of celibacy was brought on by sexual critique from an old flame.

“He was impatient with my sexual performance…it was at the cusp of AIDS [and] I’m happy to be healthy and alive, frankly…I haven’t had sex in 29 years, do I feel like less of a person because of it? No, not even remotely.”
Tim continues on to explain that he is “a perfectly fulfilled person… but it’s very psychological.”
In a world where decisions are made on the adage “sex sells,” it is admirable that a man of Tim’s stature would reveal such personal details about his sexual life on television.
