The world’s largest drug make-up corporation, Pfizer Inc., is recalling 1 million packets of birth control pills, after concerns that errors in its inspection process will result in women getting pregnant accidentally.

STORY: Ten Craziest Product Recalls

IB Times reported that Pfizer spokeswoman Grace Ann Arnold said the problem was caused by both mechanical and visual inspection failures on the packaging line.

The drug company also released a statement:

“As a result of this packaging error, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception, and at risk for unintended pregnancy.”

The drugs are being recalled from warehouses, retail pharmacies, and clinics throughout the country.

The expiration dates on the packages range from July 31, 2013, to March 31, 2014.
