Who knew Kevin McCallister has been home alone since 1990?

Yesterday pictures of an extremely skinny Macaulay Culkin hit the ‘net, sparking concern from many fans and bloggers. Many, but not me.

PHOTOS: Macaulay Is That You?

He’ll be alright because he’s tough!

Besides, his rep released a statement saying:

“Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health,” his rep, Michelle Bega, said. “For any media outlet to speculate otherwise is reckless, thoughtless and destructive.”

Macaulay has lived an extremely hard life and maybe, just maybe, Mila Kunis leaving him was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Skip a meal here, pop a pill there. Tired? Knock back a few Red Bulls and continue to go hard in the paint. Because no one drinks Red Bull to be productive.

His past success has Mac able to take care of himself, despite not having any work in the near future. To borrow a line from Jay-Z, he’s still spending money from ’88. But even though he’s living off his old millions, that success has also turned him into a slave of Kevin McCallister.

“To a lot of people, I still am that kid,” he acknowledges. “It’s a blessing and a curse. I can go to any restaurant without a reservation, but while I’m there, everyone’s gonna be staring.”

It’s tidbits like that which help me understand why there has been so much trouble in Macaulay’s life. He has lived his live in a fish bowl, and spent his whole life as an 8-year-old character.

When he got locked up for weed and prescription meds in 2004, no one was surprised. We expected Kevin to be crazy. I think I’m alone when I say that I am more comfortable calling him Kevin than Macaulay.

He even knows the whole world expects him to be insane.

Child actors are supposed to meltdown. Going crazy is their destiny. They are doomed to implode. Michael Jackson, Gary Coleman, Danny Bonaduce… The little boy from Soul 4 Real. They all end up a bit off. The worst part of the tale of this Home Alone actor is that he knew it was coming.

He told NY Mag:

“Yeah, it’s funny,” says Culkin. “A lot of people meet me and they’re like, Why aren’t you crazy?”

Maybe they just didn’t wait long enough.
