GlobalGrind linked up with independent Hip-Hop duo After the Smoke to delve into the critical issues of copyright infringement, stemming from the latest Yelawolf track titled “Far From a Bitch”.

Comprised of Rob Coin and Anthony X Squared, the duo performed at Standford University in Palo Alto, California before sitting down with us.

The backdrop of their story takes place in Tallahassee, FL where After the Smoke first met Yelawolf and opened up for him in concert.

Later down the line, after mutual correspondence, the two entities engaged in talks about future collaborations, and in exchange, After the Smoke provided Yelawolf an original beat for him to listen to.

A few weeks passed and nothing else was heard from the Southern rapper. After the Smoke chucked it up to the notion that maybe Yelawolf was just too busy for them.

But after a fan disseminated the message that Yelawolf rapped over their beat, After the Smoke soon realized they’d been bamboozled when they heard the song and received a copyright infringement order from Universal Music Group.

The down to earth producers made sure to point out that the issue of their stolen beat is not with the Alabama-bred rapper Yelawolf, but with the music publishing company Universal Music Group.
