Music and melody have always carried the ability to reach further than just words alone.

And with the Trayvon Martin tragedy capturing headlines all over the red, white and blue, music and its respective artists have stepped up to the mic to make it loud and clear – the people will be heard.

Last week we brought you a list of some of the greatest and most memorable protest songs to date. “Imagine” by John Lennon, “What’s Goin On” by Marvin Gaye, “F*ck The Police” by N.W.A all made the list.

But today, both Chaka Khan and Jasiri X each drop their own inspirational tunes.

Chaka recruits some of Tinseltown’s leading actors such as Angela Bassett and Loretta Devine, and also some of the music industry’s most stunning talents, including Kelly Price and Luke James.

Jasiri X takes to The Throne’s “No Church In The Wild” instrumental and lays down some striking lyrics. In his closing line he says:

“And George Zimmerman wasn’t even arrested / the message is only white lives are protected in America.”
