After the controversial shooting, millions from across the nation have expressed outrage. Trayvon Martin was murdered on February 26th, 2012 while returning to his gated community after buying a bag of Skittles and iced tea from a local store.

Zimmerman pursued Trayvon because he appeared to look “suspicious” even though a 911 dispatcher urged him not to. When Trayvon was approached he asked why he was being followed. The two engaged in a scuffle resulting in Trayvon being shot dead after receiving a bullet to his chest.

One teacher, Brooke Harris, was fired from a school in Michigan after she helped students organize a fundraiser in support of Trayvon Martin’s family.

A petition is now available online hosted by Change.org. Web users now have the opportunity to express their disapproval of Pontiac Academy’s discharge of Ms. Harris and call for reinstatement to her position.

We commend Brooke Harris for her efforts and are in support of her.
