The violence in Chicago has erupted once again, as a young girl and her mother were shot inside their own home while sleeping on the Far South Side.

Tonishia Allen, 24, and her 1-year-old daughter Jayilah Allen were hurt when the shooters fired through the window and the bullets went into the back bedroom, hitting the 1-year-old in the head and the mom in the leg.
Family members have been at the hospital all night praying for young Jayilah, as she remains in serious condition.
Grandmother Tina Roberts told ABC:
“She was bleeding from her head. We called 911. That’s all I know. I don’t know why it happened. It’s just rough.”
Roberts is no stranger to violence. She also says that she lost another daughter to a murder in 2007. In this case, there are no suspects yet.
Homicides in Chicago have surged in the first quarter of 2012 by 60 percent, according to Police Department statistics.
