A Texas woman identified as Verna McClain has been charged with capital murder after shooting Kala Marie Golden and kidnapping her baby boy yesterday.

According to the Associated Press witnesses said Verna and Kala got into an argument after Kala left a pediatric clinic Tuesday. The argument resulted in Verna shooting Kala to death and snatching her 3-day old baby boy, Keegan, from her.
Witnesses say after snatching the baby, Verna entered her Lexus and drove off. Kala, wounded, attempted to retain her baby but failed as the car hit her and sped away.
The kidnapping of Keegan occurred around 3:40 p.m. outside of Northwoods Pediatric Center in Houston. He was recovered, unharmed, around 8 p.m.
Kala died during the incident and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says Verna has confessed to the murder and kidnapping.
Kala’s husband of three years and father of her four children, Keith Schuchardt, spoke on the tragedy saying:
“It’s hard man, it’s hard… I’m going to miss her a lot.”
Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon confirmed that no motives have been identified and the case is still being investigated.
No details regarding where Verna and the baby boy were found has been released.
