A New York man identified as Terrence Hale has been accused of committing an extremely ruthless crime.

Officers reported that 26-year old Terrence stabbed cop Eder Loor in the head on Tuesday with a 3.5″ knife. According to the NY Daily News the blow was so hard that the knife went through his skull and pierced his brain.

The officer was responding to a 911 call regarding a mental ill man who was off his medications.

Eder phenomenally survived the attack and doctors said that his recovery is speedy. Commissioner Ray Kelly visited Eder at Mount Sinai Medical Center on Thursday night and spoke on his progress saying:

“He’s in good spirits, but he’s in pain. He said he has headaches. There is a lot of optimism surrounding the officer… It’s another miracle, no question about it.”

As reported by the NY Daily News:

Loor’s partner, Police Officer Luckson Merisme, captured Hale soon after the bloodshed.

Hale — who has a criminal record and a long history of mental illness — was taken to a psychiatric ward at Metropolitan Hospital for observation.

He was expected to be arraigned Friday night in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges that include attempted aggravated murder.

Loor, who is also a member of the Air Force National Guard, was making a surprisingly speedy recovery for someone who doctors said was lucky to be alive.

The blade just nicked the middle cerebral artery, which if severed would have caused Loor to bleed to death.

During surgery that lasted two hours and 40 minutes, doctors removed a blood clot and cleared pressure on the brain that was caused by welling blood.

“He’s as lucky as you get,” said neurosurgeon Dr. Joshua Bederson after he operated on Loor. “It was awfully close.”

Loor and his wife, Dina, have a 4-year-old daughter and are expecting a baby boy in July.

Our prayers are with officer Eder.
