After George Zimmerman‘s bond hearing Friday morning, Florida Judge Kenneth Lester allowed Zimmerman to be released on bail which was set at $150,000. His attornery, Mark O’Mara convinced the judge that Zimmerman was not a flight risk and also posed no threat to his community.

With his bail set at $150,000, Zimmerman and his family would have to come up with $15,000 and a bail bondsmans would come up with the rest. But, as Zimmerman smiled in court knowing he would be able to walk free, at least for the time being, he seems to be stuck in jail a bit longer than expected. MSNBC reports,
George Zimmerman’s lawyer visited him Saturday in a Florida jail as he prepared for his release on bail, which could occur mid-week.
Attorney Mark O’Mara said it would take several days before Zimmerman is released, as his family has been having trouble putting together enough money for collateral. Zimmerman also must be fitted with an electronic monitoring device and O’Mara must find him a secure location.
Zimmerman, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin shocked everyone when he apologized to Trayvon’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton while on the stand during his bond hearing.

The Judge ordered no contact between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin’s family – no guns, no alcohol, and to contact authorities every 3 days while out on bail. Florida also has a “Use a gun and you’re done” law for those convicted of second-degree murder with a sentence of 20 years to life.
