If you’ve ever wondered how the heck Lady Gaga manages to walk in her heel-less shoes, you are not alone.

Although we have seen similar models by brands like Alexander McQueen, Noritaka Tatehana may be the first to have made these gravity-defying shoes.

Regarded as a favorite by both Lady Gaga and world-renowned fashionista Daphne Guinness, Noritaka Tatehana’s heel-less shoes are actually not as difficult to create as one would think, however the process is still very painstaking.

Using a calligraphy brush, Noritaka paints on layers of cementing glue, hammers on the sole, and executes some (very secret) forces of engineering that get the platform as high as it can be. And although the shoe seems to be unlike anything we have ever seen, it is completely functional and uses gravity to help aide in the balancing act that you are sure to endure based on the weight that the shoe carries up front.
