You’ve heard her music and may not even know it.

“The Call” was the featured song for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, “Us” and “Hero” are both on the soundtrack of indie favorite (500) Days of Summer, and who could forget the can’t-get-it-out-of-my-head tune “Music Box” that aired in a JC Penney’s commercial a few years back?

Regina Spektor is a gem hiding in plain sight and it’s about time you uncovered her.

NEW VIDEO: Coldplay Feat. Rihanna “Princess of China”

The Soviet émigré has just released her sixth studio album What We Saw From the Cheap Seats and it’s just as endearing as her previous endeavors.

Being a part of the anti-folk scene has allowed Spektor to create a sound all her own; a tranquil combination of her classical training and hip-hop, jazz, rock, folk, and Russian influences that has a very raw feel to it.

All of her songs have a story and she brings them to fruition with every quirk she has up her sleeve, especially with her playful emphasis on pronunciations.

There is no other artist out right now who would be able to make a song simply out of a cappella singing, buzzing, and beatboxing sounds as charming as only Regina Spektor can.
