With one look, anyone can be mesmerized by model Lenka Dayrit’s stunning visage, but her struggle runs so much deeper than external beauty. Her story is not one that can be told simply by looking at her.
Lenka is a cancer survivor.

It has been a long road since then, and after battling the life-threatening disease for 7 months with rigorous cancer treatments and near death experiences, Lenka is back and won’t soon forget her struggle.
The model is an active member of Fashion Fights Cancer, an organization with a mission statement dedicated to nurture the minds, bodies and souls of cancer patients and survivors through fashion and design-oriented activities.

This weekend, Lenka and her fellow cancer survivors got together to shoot the promo photos for the 7th Annual “For the Cure” walk that will take place in NYC in October.
Lenka was gracious enough to share the first look at personal photos from the FFC walk with GlobalGrind readers, saying:
I’m really excited and honored to be part of this amazing project. As a cancer survivor I know how important for the healing process is the “soul food” the little things which makes you forget where you are and what you are going through. The biggest part of the survival is nurturing the mind. With a positive and healthy mind the body recovers faster! I find this program very innovative and therapeutic!!!
What is also amazing is to be in the company of other survivors. People who understand what you went thru and with whom you can share your stories.
During taking the last group picture I could feel this amazing energy! Its the energy of beautiful, strong, courageous people who refuse to give up and who are strong enough to go and give back even thought they still feel sick and weak!
And they should be honored to be the brave women that they are.
