Sly and the Family Stone was noted as one of the first bands to transcend the lines of race and gender when it came to music, and at the helm of the family stone was none other than the rock, Sly Stone.

The group sang messages of peace, love and hope infused with a bit of funk and R&B in the hippie-aged ’60s.
Since then, the Family Stone has disbanded as members took their separate routes in life.
