Chad Ochocinco of the Miami Dolphins finally wed former Basketball Wives reality star Evelyn Lozada! The new football wife and Dolphins wide-receiver were wed under Independence Day fireworks and in front of family, friends and VH1 cameras.

The nuptials were recorded for the couple’s upcoming reality show Ev and Ocho, which premieres in September. The football superstar tweeted live in the hours leading up to the ceremony and during the reception. When asked why he chose America’s birthday for the big day, he responded, “So I’d never forget our damn anniversary.”
Ochocinco, former Dancing With the Stars contestant and father of four, proposed to Lozada in November 2010 by inviting a jeweler to their home. Lozada said, “He had a jeweler come to the house,” she went on to explain that a rep from jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills frequently travels to clients. “[It was] a total surprise! We sat there and picked out the ring.”

The two enjoyed a rather unusual courtship by today’s standards. According to Lozada:
“Before we met, we communicated over the phone for a month. We got to know each other like that before seeing each other,” she said. “We have a true friendship. And he can keep up with my mouth! I’m very verbal, and say what I think and feel. He’s the same way. He makes me laugh.”
