With all the cruddy music roaming the airwaves these days, the news that old albums are outselling new albums is no shocker.

The music tracking company, Nielsen Soundscan, is reporting that old albums are moving more units that new albums for the first time ever.
Nielsen Soundscan has been tracking album sales since 1991, and since then, old albums have never outsold new albums.
Soundscan analyst, David Bakula, attributes the rise in old album sales to a few different variables.
“I really, truly do believe that there probably is a consumer that is buying music here that wasn’t buying music in the past.”

David also mentions that older albums are being sold for $5.99-$10.99, which is considerably less than new album prices that range from $12.99-$17.99.
Could this revelation be caused by the issue of money, or the actual music?
