Well, the credits read Mariah Carey featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, but when you listen you will instantly recognize who the superstars are. But let’s not discredit Mimi, JD or Bryan Michael Cox for assembling an all-star cast for this great record “Triumphant (Get Em).” As mentioned, Rozay and his MMG co-D Meek Mill blaze through the first part of this record like Cali wildfire rolled in a blunt. It’s Mariah’s angelic presence though that is felt all over “Triumphant,” but especially from the  bridge to the ending. First Idol, now a new record for the clubs? Looks like Mimi is back to reclaim that diva crown!

Man oh Man I had a man crush on Melanie Amaro when she was on the X Factor. Who cares if she can sing? This chick is hotter than summer time in the Chi. Oh yeah, and she can sing too. LA has all the hot girls, both figuratively and literally. So under the guidance of LA Reid she should become superstar. This new record “Don’t Fail Me Now” is a great start. It’s produced by Rodney Jerkins? Wait a minute, I thought the Dark Child had some legal issues? Oh well. It’s a great record for Melanie, if you’re not already familiar.

Homeboy Sandman has been singing you sucka MC’s lullabies for more than a minute by now. Still, they’re are those out there who have yet to witness what this kid does over a dope track. Enter producer Oddisee and a crazy loop over a beat that will break your neck worse than Yoga! The track “Whatchu Want From Me” is must hear music, and my personal recommendation whether you’re in the car, working out, on the beach or at the crib rolling Bambu’s. Turn this SH*T UP!

Mobb Deep is on hiatus?. That’s the word on the street, that it’s a wrap for now! According to Havoc, “we’re here to say goodbye to the lies” on his new street heater “Separated.” Although he never says his name, c’mon fam! We already know who Hav is referring to on this. The beat on this is crazy though, and the hook has the vintage Infamous Mobb flava, minus Prodigy’s voice, of course. Mad subliminals are flying around on this. When it’s all said-and-done, though, “Separated” is easily in the Top 15 hip-hop diss songs of all time. This is that Drama Hour DJ Kay Slay from around the way’ music, early!

A lot of producers now-a-days take a crack at lacing 16-bar metaphors when given the chance: Kanye, Dr. Dre, Dj Quik and Havoc are just a few of the names you recognize. What about the kid Hit Boy? I guess being around Kanye and Hov will inspire. Check this new joint “Old School Caddy” which features Kid Cudi. This beat is what gets you first because Hit Boy is known, at least in the mainstream, for his Memphis style southern fried beats. Looks like its another beatsmith turned Wordsworth.

Until we read again.
