Two groups have been put in charge of guarding memorials dedicated to the memory of Trayvon Martin, as they are being taken down as fast as they’re going up.

According to News13, Moms on Duty Against Violence and the Sanford Knights said they have teamed up to keep a 24-hour watch on the site.
Antrenic Williams, with Moms on Duty Against Violence, said:
“Everywhere you go, you see a memorial somewhere — on 17-92 to Lake Monroe. It’s by the mall, on I-4, on 415…You see them everywhere, and they’re still there. So why is Trayvon’s memorial being taken away?”
Parents of Sanford said that they are worried the memorial will be a distraction to students and cause safety concerns as their kids walk to school, while the representatives from the city say no one from their office has been taking down the memorials this time.
Last month, residents said that they removed the memorial because it had become old and no one was maintaining the upkeep.
Let’s hope these important reminders of an unspeakable tragedy get the care they deserve.
