With somber hearts, we previously reported that hip-hop has lost one of its leading men. 

Chris Lighty was the founder and chief executive of Violator Management/Brand Asset Group, and has been an integral part of the music scene since 1988, when he joined Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen at Rush Management.

STORY: Chris Lighty Has Passed Away 

In the light of the news of the untimely death of Chris Lighty, celebrities, music executives and DJs alike took to the social networking site Twitter to share their condolences and display their shock at the news.  

Chris’ business legacy has included work with some of the greatest like Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott, Fantasia, Mya, Diggy Simmons, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep, LL Cool J, Nas and 50 Cent.

Our condolences are with the family, friends, loved ones and every heart that Chris has inspired. 

May he rest in peace knowing his legacy will live on. 

Rapper The Game posted a heartfelt message to his Instagram with a photo of Lighty that read as follows:

Via handsomeassnigga: “R.I.P. to my old friend “Chris Lighty”. Tragedy has once again struck the music industry & this time it hit close to home. Chris was a good dude, honestly…. A father, husband, mogul & a great business man. May his soul rest & many condolences to his immediate family & children. Love”
